Works great on 2003 Mazda Protege
I can confirm this worked when I replaced it on my girlfriends 2003 Mazda Protege! This worked on the driver side front door. Taking off the door panel was easy, but I have fairly large hands and trying to get this actuator in place took we a while! Be patient and take pictures of what it looks like before. Also, make sure to test everything before putting the panel back on

Fixed the buzzing door lock on 2003 Mazda Protege5
Fixed the issue of the door not unlocking on my Mazda Protege5. When doing this job, do yourself a favor and take the whole lock assembly out (do not undo the outer door handle), it will be much easier to get the motor attached! Disconnect all the rods going to the lock assembly and undo the three large screws on the edge of the door around the striker catch. Take your time and it's not too bad.

Exact replacement
The actuator on the driver's side door needed to be replaced on our 2003 Mazda Protege5. I had read online that it was a simple task, just 2 screws to remove & replace. The 2 screws part was true, but it was very difficult for me to get my hands in the door and once they were in there I couldn't see what I was trying to do. I hope I never have to do it again!

Not a good fit.
It was supposed to fit my Protege, but it didnt. I had to remove my door latch and grind metal off the mounting plate. At least it plugged in and worked. But it wasn't until I had the door back together that I discovered the lock went down whan all the others went up. I had to take the door apart again, figure out how the actuator was wired, cut and re-solder the wires and reassemble it all. It works.

works!
Not the easiest replacement but still I would consider it a relatively easy project for a diy person. Worked on my Mazda protege 5 driver side door. He aware the mounting hopes rely on self threading. .
