Approximately how long does it take to work through one puzzle? I teach 4th grade and thought this would be a fun "free time" activity.
My son is turning 6 and pretty good at logic/puzzle things. Would you recommend this set or the JR one?
Would either this or the Jr. set be fun for a 3 yr old? My son is smart, but not sure if this would be too tough. Other game suggestions??
I'd like to get Rush Hour for my daughter who just turned eight. I can't decide if I should get the "Jr" version or the regular one? Thoughts?

Perfectly Challenging Game

Arrived on time and as described.Bottom Line: Definitely recommend! Definitely gift-able.-Durable, colourful, no reading necessary -just follow the set up card and try to get the red car out of the parking lot by sliding, not lifting, all the cars so a free path can be made for the red car.-Solo play (but we have also made it into a group effort when needed)-Small, compact, and easily stored and played with in a small space.-Quick to learn, can take a few minutes to quite some time depending on which level you are playing.-Depending on the person, pretty much anyone who enjoys a puzzle will like this game. (I just bought it for a 7 year old's birthday who has addicted to *my* set for the last two years.)As a kid my dad bought this for us kids because he liked puzzles... that was back in the early 70s when he actually bought it during his time serving in Okinawa, Japan. We loved it immediately as each round the challenges get more difficult.I still, at age 63, have the original '70s game at my house and my grandkids also enjoy playing it when they come over... so much so that when our little 6 year old comes over it is the first game she reaches to play. Part of it is she can play solo and take her time figuring out how to get the red car out, also I think she just likes the tiny cars and trucks and how they make the colourful 'parking lot' into a puzzle she can solve!

Terrific game for young and old

We have owned this game for almost 20 years. We first got it when our kids were in elementary school and recently purchased it again as a gift for our 5 year old niece. It is challenging at a variety of levels. What is great is it can be played solitarily or with help from multiple people. The cards increase in level of complication which makes it fun and interesting to see how you progress through the puzzles. An all time favorite puzzler. Item came quickly and in great condition. Highly recommend Rush Hour for all ages.

This is No Old-Fashioned Slide Puzzle

I teach 7th and 8th grade, and am always on the lookout for interesting logic puzzle games for my students to try if they finish work early or if we have some free time, or at homeroom or lunch. Rush Hour fits the bill perfectly. This game has been highly-regarded by educational companies because it teaches kids spatial reasoning, and I can see why. I generally have to think several steps ahead, visualizing "to move the orange car down, I have to move the grey car to the right, but to do that I have to move the blue car up," etc. I'll have to hold all those maneuvers in my head before I can trace back to the one move that I actually CAN currently make. The sense of accomplishment when you finally solve a puzzle feels great.Even the medium puzzles are relatively challenging, taking me five to ten minutes or more of moving and shifting pieces to figure out how to solve the puzzle. The Hard and Expert puzzles, however, are no joke. Some are mind-benders, guaranteed to be good puzzles for an evening at home and absolutely a brilliant challenge for even the most astute student minds. With 40 puzzle cards in the box, it will take a while before you finish, and even once you do, good luck trying to remember how you solved that puzzle two weeks ago! It is a challenge all over again. This is no old-fashioned slide-puzzle with the one piece missing and you have to try to complete the picture. It takes a relatively simple concept (slide the red car on its single track out the space on the right side of the board) and challenges you in a way that can drive you loopy with curiosity. Since each car is on a single track and can slide either horizontally or vertically, it provides you a straightforward framework for manipulating the pieces, if only you can figure out the right order...

Fun, giftable, challenging (but not too challenging) logic puzzle great for recommended age range.

This game is a little addictive! It’s like a game on your phone but screen-free. There are 40 cards that tell you how to set up the logic puzzle in different ways using plastic cars on a “parking lot” grid. The cars move forward or backward only, and you goal is always the same: to get the red car out of the lot. The 40 cards are in order of increasing difficulty so it’s like a game with 40 levels to master. The solutions are on the back of each card but my family has never needed to use them. The cards fit in a handy little drawer in the parking lot game board. I just wish the plastic cars fit in a compartment somewhere too! The game does include a small drawstring bag to store pieces in, but this isn’t a great solution because the little cars can fall out of the bag’s opening pretty easily. Also, the board doesn’t fit in the bag with them so it’s not a great design—I wish it could all be contained in one thing. I have seen a travel case for the game for sale on Amazon, but 1) I don’t really want to spend the money and 2) I don’t think it’s a great idea to travel with this game because if you lose one car, the whole set is basically useless. When I travel with kids we bring Plus-Plus building pieces because they are all the same so it’s not a big deal if you lose a couple. So I would rate this game as 5 stars for being a fun, giftable, moderately challenging logic puzzle that is great for the recommended ages but Amazon asked me to rate on travel ability so I will say 4 stars overall

Great for logic, sequencing, and number series -FUN!

Picked up this fun and well designed learning tool for a family member who suffered a brain injury - it's definitely helping them "train" to regain skills... and, as a consequence, I've found it's also a fun toy for all ages. Sturdy, colorful, with enough tasks in numerous skill levels to keep all age levels interested. Best when done together with one person acting as coach, regardless of age, to help alleviate any frustration regarding "achievement" - besides, that makes it more fun! Highly recommend!
