Five-Star changed the qualify of their paper a few years back to this gross, cheap, glossy paper. Indistinguishable from the cheap 100 page, 10 cent packs you get at Staples or any generic big box store. You can easily tell the difference when you write on it with a mechanical pencil, because it almost slides across the page instead of the satisfying, scratch you get from writing on high quality paper.You'd think for a $20 notebook the paper would be of decent quality, but no luck here. Everything else about the notebook is fine, but paper is the fundamental product here and it's terrible. If you were writing with a pen you'd probably be fine, but those who use pencils should steer clear.

I have ordered these notebooks from Amazon for the past three years that I have been in college, and they are perfect. The folder dividers are great for keeping my syllabus and loose leaf papers in the same place as the notes I take in class. It is also nice that they can be moved so that if one class has more notes than another, I can allocate the paper where I need it. The soft fabric covering the spiral edge is great - keeps the spirals from coming undone and catching on things, and it just looks and feels nice. It also has a spot on the outside where I can write which semester the notebook is from, which is helpful for the end of the year when I file them away. They are always delivered on time and in good condition.My only complaint is the lack of color variety, but it is not enough for me to knock off any points from my rating because it does not reduce the quality of the product.
