Awesome Casein!
This is a wonderful product! Super clean. Short list of natural, safe ingredients. Just as I’ve come to expect from Ascent! I’ve had zero digestive issues while consuming this product and it has made a very positive difference in my post workout recovery. Specifically, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in my day after muscle soreness and stiffness.I don’t understand all the complaints about taste. The choc/peanut butter tastes like just that! Everyone wants all their fancy supplements to taste like kids sugar cereal. If that’s your jam, do you. But if you want clean, safe ingredients, you can’t have a fruity pebble shake. Otherwise, enjoy your sucralose and acesulfame potassium.Regarding the complaints of grittiness: That is casein. It is a slightly grittier compound than whey. Any minimally processed casein product will have this texture. It isn’t a whey substitute. It is a different compound with a different purpose.Regarding complaints about it being too thick: Add more liquid! My preference is 10-12 oz for a drinkable shake. 4-6 oz or so will yield a more pudding like consistency. Again, it will make a thicker result than the same ratio of whey to liquid. Personally I find no fat milk to mix really well with it. If you’re concerned about too much sugar from the extra milk you can cut it with water. For mixing I use a small, cordless $14 shake mixer (blender with a plastic paddle) and it does a great job so I can’t speak for stirring or shaker cups, but in this preparation I get nice, consistent results.Thank you Ascent for providing us with an awesome, clean supplement! Now just make this available at Costco😉

Top Notch Protein
It mixes well and tastes great. One of the better Casein Proteins that I have ever tried.

Good protein for mixing with food.
I use this in my peanut butter protein bars. The vanilla doesn’t have taste that overpowers the other important ingredients. Comes with its own 1/2 cup measuring spoon.

Decent flavor
Tried the chocolate one-flavor was decent. Definitely not as sweet or thick like others. I would buy again

The taste and consistency of this protein is awfully unlike any other
Let me first start by saying I'm a big fan of Ascent Whey Protein powder and Premiere Protein shakes. I'm very tolerant of most protein powders and drinks, and I like many of them to varying degrees.I decided to try this since it was for sustained recovery. The first time I made it with almond milk and some frozen banana slices (my normal go-to recipe) and mixed with an electric submersion "stick" mixer. I ended up with a pudding that I tried to eat with a spoon. I actually thought I would like this option, but I couldn't handle the taste. I thought maybe I used too many bananas or too much powder or not enough milk.I tried again a day or two later and adjusted my ratios so it was thinner and had fewer frozen banana slices but the taste and texture didn't get any better (of course it was thinner so I could drink it this time though.) I couldn't even finish it.I'm disappointed that I didn't like this so badly that I had to throw it away. I will say that Amazon's customer service was remarkable and refunded my money anyway for this product even though it is non-returnable. 5 stars for Amazon.

I like it with my oatmeal
I had this bag for about a year and tried adding to a few different things and making the pudding. Nothing really that made me say "this is good!". But this past winter I have been adding it to my oatmeal to amp up the protein. The scoop is fairly large, so I am only using about half a scoop, but I really do like the taste in my oatmeal. I used to add a little bit of milk, but now with the Ascent Casein Protein Powder added I no longer add milk. I think it adds a nice little creaminess and taste to the oatmeal. I like it added to plain oatmeal better than some of the higher protein oatmeal packs that I have tried and I can control the added sugar by not using the prepacked individual packs of the higher protein oatmeals I have tried.

Quality product.
5 stars. A quality addition/alternative to whey protein. It does thicken liquid when mixed in unless you drink it fairly quickly. On the plus side, this thickening characteristic makes it more economical; it can be mixed with water instead of milk or synthetic milk products like almond milk.

I find this too sweet
I love Ascent chocolate and have been drinking it for a few years. Thought I’d try the vanilla casein, but I can barely get it down. Mixed some blueberries and a little banana in to see if that helped. It didn’t. Too sweet for me. I’ll still use it, but it will take a very long time. If you like sweet, this is for you.
