Maped Stop System Compass, Gray (019600)

I ordered these to use in my jewelry making. Best compass I have ever purchased.

It's very sturdy and easy to use, it's nicer than a lot of much more expensive compasses. Lead refills are a pain to find.

I love this compass. Other compasses break. This one doesn't. I've been using the same compass for the past 3 years in my classroom. It is a requirement for my students to bring in a compass each year to class. While I recommend Maped, many students opt for different brands; some cheaper, some more expensive. By mid-year, my students are all begging me to borrow mine.

The locking arm doesn't stay locked very well.

I was attracted by the adjustment, which locks in place to hold an arc and releases to adjust it. That works pretty good. But the lead chamber is tragically short. The leads have to be so short that they are next to impossible to sharpen. I should have gotten a more traditional design that would allow me to use an ordinary pencil to make the arc.
