Toooooo budget, really
As a budget unit you don't expect polish or bells and whistles, but this NVR is essentially unusable, partly because of numerous bugs in the user interface, but also because even with decades of IT experience behind me I was unable to work out what several of the settings are supposed to do, and there is nothing in the way of useful instructions provided.I gave up: returned it and bought a more expensive unit from a better known brand.

SANNCE - PoE NVR 4K 8 Channel (No HDD)
I used an old analogue SANNCE system in my house for a good 7 or 8 years and I added a couple of IP cameras to the system, which worked ok, but a couple of the old cameras seem to be stuck on black and white/night mode, so I picked up 6 POE IP cameras a little while ago, as they are far better quality and only need a single network cable running to them – I haven’t got around to installing them on my house yet, as I need to borrow a ladder, but this NVR will be perfect for powering them and recording video. The NVR is nice and compact so doesn’t take up much space and has a very plain and discrete look, with 3 simple indicator LED’s on the front that let you quickly see if the NVR has power, is recording or an alarm has been triggered. The rear panel of the NVR is where all of the connections are made – these include the AC port for the mains adapter, 2 x USB ports, an RJ45 network port (to connect the NVR to your network), an HDMI port as well as a VGA port for connecting to a TV or monitor, a 3.5mm audio output jack and 8 x RJ45 ports for connecting to the cameras (these are POE ports so can also supply power to them).Inside the NVR is a small motherboard and a SATA connection and mounting point for a 3.5” HDD (not included). This particular NVR supports up to 8 x IP cameras with resolutions up to 4K.***** In The Box *****1 x SAANCE 8ch NVR1 x 48v Mains adapter1 x USB Mouse1 x User Guide1 x Network Cable***** Installation / Usage *****Installation is pretty straightforward and the interface and settings are pretty much identical to 99% of these consumer level recorders. You will of course need to open the case by removing 4 screws and then connect a SATA HDD so that you will be able to record video.I’d suggest connecting everything up in your living room and making sure all of the components are working before drilling holes and fixing things into place.Once you are happy everything is working, you will need to position your cameras and fix them into position with the screws and run a network cable to each camera.Once all of the cameras are installed connect the other ends of the network cables to the ports on the back of the NVR. Connect the NVR to your TV or monitor using either HDMI or VGA cables (not supplied), connect the mouse to a USB port and of course connect the NVR to the mains. To be able to access the NVR remotely you will also need to connect it to your existing router using an Ethernet cable.Power the NVR on and let it boot up, where you will be greeted with a setup wizard, although I like to cancel the wizard and do things myself. You will be prompted to enter a new username and password.Depending on your cameras, you may see video feeds straight away, or you may need to add their IP addresses and log in details manually. The system will work pretty much straight out of the box (it will automatically begin recording), but it’s worth looking through all of the settings to change them to suit your needs. You can set cameras to record only at specified times/days, as well as set motion detection regions, so that alarms and notifications are triggered only when motion is detected in a certain area. The system can also detect humans and faces as well as vehicles, although you need cameras that support this specific feature. There are plenty of other settings, which let you adjust the display (colours etc), change the night vision mode, change the names of each camera and of course you can play back recorded video.A nice option is being able to create user accounts so you can let other family members look at live video or recordings, but stop them from changing any settings.I like to assign a specific IP address to my NVR and also set up the Dynamic DNS option to be able to access my NVR remotely on my Android phone, without using the Cloud option, which I consider to be an added security risk, (although most people will find the Cloud option the easiest).I haven’t used the cloud option, but it’s pretty much a case of installing the SAANCE mobile app from the app store (I use XMEye, which is pretty much identical and works perfectly), creating a free account and then scanning the QR code from the setup wizard.I prefer to not bother with the account and log in directly using the DDNS address and forwarding the Media port for the NVR in my routers control panel.Using either of the above methods, you will be able to remotely connect to the NVR to view live video feeds, as well recorded video. You also have the option of using a PC to configure the NVR’s settings and view video. You can enter the NVR’s IP address directly into your web browser.***** Conclusion *****The SANNCE 4K 8Ch POE system is a considerable improvement over my old SANNCE analogue system. The live and recorded video streams are far superior with many times more detail. Night vision is also very good.Because I do not currently have my POE cameras installed, I have only tested the system with the existing IP cameras and have connected to them directly on the network, without having them physically connected via Ethernet to the recorder. The NVR looks nice, is well made and is very easy to use. The software is pretty much identical to most consumer systems, so if you have an old system like I did you will feel right at home. The smartphone app is also very easy to use, allowing you to view live and recorded video whilst away from home, which is an extremely handy feature.Being able to use POE cameras is a huge advantage over analogue and regular IP cameras, as it means you only need to run a single cable to each camera and you only need a single mains adapter to power everything (not 1 per camera). All in all, I have no complaints with the product and if it is as durable as my old analogue SANNCE system, I think the £120 asking price is very reasonable and definitely worth considering.

Closed circuit television!
Good product, recommend! but the only thing is the left hand screen clock keeps going back an hour automatically and the app on the smartphone isn’t great to set up as easy as it says!!

Comes with free app!
SANNCE PoE NVR 4K 8 Channel is definitely a game changer for my cameras. Until now I've had separate brand cameras dotted around the house and outside and I had to use different apps to check them (we got cameras over the years and didn't stick to one brand). This was a nightmare.SANNCE system is quite nice and compact and very easy to navigate and install. The free app is really good and responsive and makes our life so much easier now having all the cameras connected to one device and visible on one app. There doesn't seem to be any lag so far with recording and compression is good. Although we have cameras from different brands they all seem to have synchronised with the device perfectly. As I am not very technical I must admit the set up was really easy and it's pretty much plug in and play - minus the installation of the cameras. We connected the box to a spare monitor as one of the cameras is pointing at the pond - we can see if any pesky herons are lurking around if we are not there.Overall I am really happy with the SANNCE PoE NVR 4K 8 Channel system. You get up to 12TB recording capability if you add this many hard drives so it's beyond what we need as we only are using half of this of it.Build wise it's a nice looking small box and it feels well made. Functional, Free app - this is a very important part! and compatible with other brand cameras.
