not sure if there is any measured medical effect, but they are definitely a cleaner candy. No colors like Red 40, etc. They get stale fairly quickly, not in an unpleasant taste way but rather they get firmer. I can only have 2-3 at a time, and it satisfies my sweet craving the rest is shared with other people.
