FluidmasterReplacement Adjustable Flapper 502

Bought a property which had been empty for years and the loo was constantly trickling. This was simple to fit and stopped the trickle. Happy.

Easy to fit and does the job

Due of the chlorine used to disinfect or water supply the flexible plastic becomes harder over time and actually shrinks, which means after about 3 to 4 years the flapper no longer seals properly. Normally water trickles past the flapper and down into the toilet bowl, or the flush never stops flushing. I have replace three of these over a period of about 12 years while the rest of the Fluidmaster stuff ( float valve, flush handle and the actual flapper seat have been fine ). I normally know our flapper needs replacing when I hear water flowing in out water system at odd times, this happens because when the flapper first starts to leak it is very slow leak, and the water level in the cistern drops very slowly until it triggers the float valve ( ballcock ) to replace the water, so you get a short whoosh of water through the house pipes - sometimes in middle of night when no water should be flowing, but the water soon shuts off. These flappers are so easy to fit it only takes a few minutes to unclip the faulty one and clip in a new one, reconnect the chain to flush lever and you are good to go. I normally keep a spare one in a safe place, which is OK because unless the flapper is immersed in chlorinated water the plastic stays lovely an flexible for a very long time. I had just fitted my spare flapper so ordered another one straight away.

A simple, and accurate, replacement for the original in my toilet. Fitting is very simple technically, although depending on the exact design of the toilet tank it can be a bit tricky to get the chain connected to the flush lever. Once that;s done it simply works.

Works a treat better than replacing all the system good value

Item arrived promptly. In spite of the normal packing for this item it had been compressed and the rubber insert had become dislodged. With some fiddling I am sure i can repair it. It is a shame as it is a good product but now i have to fiddle around with it before I fit it. Fitting it by the way is easy and takes no more than a few minutes.

Good replacement and easy to fit myself

Nothing lasts forever and this replaced my worn out one, so spot on.
