Q: What range does it pick up? Say if trying to look into woods for animals? Or across a field?

Never tried it on large animals. It picked up my cat up to 15 feet. The greater size of the object the better distance. I opened the refrigerator door and was able to see inside cold spot at 40 feet.

Q: Can this detect termites colony inside walls

Yes if the heat signal is strong enough behind wood or sheet rock. I’m willing to let mine go if interested. Barely used.

Interpreting the specs, 3600 is the infrared camera and 0.3Mp is the visible light camera.

Q: This looks like most of the pics are close up. Would this work to take a picture of your home to spot to see where you need to insultate?

Good question. That is what I bought it for. And the answer is NO. It works for things like checking the seal on the refrigerator door, windows and things like that.
