Plastic sheathing is easy to sew through and seems robust enough not to tear away from the magnets. They are quite strong. In one of my sewing projects I ended up adding a layer just to keep a bag easy to get into. Will definitely purchase again.Update: Been using a purse with one of these as the closure for over a month - great performance! At such a low cost for what these deliver, I will continue to recommend them.

They are easy to sew with a machine. I was nervous to sew through plastic so I used a heavy duty needle the first time, but since then I have sewn them with a quilting needle just fine.I wish they were stronger. They won't hold through more than 2 layers of thin fabric. My first design had one layer of thin, low-loft batting and two layers of thin cotton fabric between the magnets. It wouldn't stay closed. I ended up using two sets of magnets for each project and sewed them so that they just have to go through the two cotton layers without the batting layer. They do work for my project with these adjustments to my pattern, but since I have to use 2 for each, it ends up being more expensive per item than I planned. For a closure that's designed to be sewn between layers of fabric, I'm surprised they aren't stronger.

Magnet is very strong. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to use for the project purchased for 2nd pacemaker and magnets don’t mix.

This magnetic clip has a limit. It does not work well with satchel bags and other products. Have to sew it with very thin materials…doesn’t work well with leather
