This is the perfect portable set to use at chess tournaments. The bag and set are a nice quality, the color is bright, the mat thickness allows it to be rolled up easily. Great value for the money we spent. After a few months of use at chess tournaments, we have not had any problems with the mat peeling.

High quality pieces board is nicely made and has good weight and the travel bag makes it easy to transport anywhere.

this is what you were looking for. very portable. takes up very little space. use it every day. 1 complaint would. be the little bags that hold your pieces, but you can easily find a replacement in a drawer in your home i would assume.

To start, this is the kind of set you buy to throw in your trunk and bring along to clubs/tournaments. My goals for these are to be of playable quality at a price I won't cry when some kid drops the pieces off the table.I love the mousepad chess board and its the star of the show considering the price. It is full size, and is a dark green/white checkerboard with a pretty thick rubber underside. Of note is the white is not a "pure" or brilliant white and I'd prefer the green to be slightly lighter in shade, but those are nitpicks.The pieces for chess are nice and large, though not particularly weighty they aren't terrible. I especially like that the white pieces are more of a "cream" color and that helps with contrast on the board. They are hollow, so you could take the felt off and put in some weights or fill them. It does come with two queens per color which is also nice to have at this price. There are visible seam lines on pieces, some worse than others but nothing particularly bad.The checkers pieces are a nice throw-in if you ever care to play checkers. They are also black and white. They don't seem to have the usual ridges for stacking "kings" but I haven't actually tried them and probably won't.

Great chess board! Have a job as chess director now! Good for chess and checkers.
