Solved my weird ice clumping problem
This is the second fan I've put in this fridge. The first time the fan just quit so after testing for voltage, it was obvious the fan was bad. This time it was different. When my refrigerator went into defrost mode, the temp was going up to 23 degrees instead of staying near 0 degrees. This was causing all my ice cubes to partially melt, then freeze back together in a big clump. I discovered that the fan was staying on during the defrost cycle, circulating hot air throughout the freezer and causing the ice to melt. I went through the whole defrost system, and the main board thinking that one of those was causing the fan to turn on when it should be off, but they all tested ok. I took a shot and bought this fan and it fixed the problem. The fan turns completely off now and my ice is normal. The fan I replaced was a non OEM and it did work fine for a number of years, but I would recommend this OEM fan as I do believe it's better quality. Saved me from replacing my fridge for $2000+ so I'm very happy.

Identical to WR60X101085 which is half the price (the part is even labeled as WR60X101085)
When ordering this part, you will receive a factory sealed box labeled WR60X10228, but when you open the box, you'll find that the label on the fan motor is WR60X10185. If you check the official GE appliance parts webpage for this part, you will find the same thing! The web page says WR60X10228, but when you zoom-in to the picture provided on the page, you'll see the part is labeled WR60X10185. I called the GE Appliance Parts store - and they confirmed that they are indeed the same part. The only difference is price. This is certainly not the sellers fault. Not sure what GE is trying to do here. The WR60X10228 is between $85 - $99. The WR60X10185 is half the price, with many non-OEM versions available for $20. So - you can order the WR60X10228 for $100, or order the WR60X10185 for $50 or less -- and in both cases you'll get the same part (both will be labeled WR60X10185). Basically, you're paying double the price for a sticker on the outside of the box.
