I saved $300 by returning a great Startech KVM switch (within return window) since this little unit enabled me to: Use my Windows work laptop & MacBook Pro - connected to one monitor. I will tell you my new monitor allows for quick switching using the remote it came with (Samsung OLED 34" G8). The unit also let me connect 1 keyboard and one mouse wirelessly. You can also connect a USB dongle off the single-port side to connect other devices as well (additional usb or usb-c cables, chargers, etc). Been using this item for 3 weeks not with no issues.I did not want to test the KVM and hurt my changes of a return. I do wonder if switching would be quicker or connections better with the Startech. For sure the cable management would have been cleaner, but I did a good job using a cable management kit. The KVM with also has more ports but in short, this unit, for its price, works great and is not slow at all. Zero issues...even if your monitor is not the Porsche-like Monitor I just purchased, it will toggle between 2 laptops with ease.Here is the Startech unit I returned to save $300 for comparison. Off topic, but I also spend half a Saturday before selecting the new Samsung monitor as I love the real estate it gives me for work, especially if I do a bit of work on a weekend and want a football game in the corner, or news. Finally, yes! I'm a National Champion, as you can see in one of the screen savers showing how clean my desktop is now, which was my goal.

Pros: Works as described; quick to switch over; build quality is surprisingly good; and is a good value.Cons: the blue lights are insanely bright and I had to find some tape to put over them to turn them down a bit. This won't be an issue if you don't have the face facing you, though.I use this in a complicated expanded KVM switch setup and it works great.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Plugged it in and it worked. No setup necessary. It is bidirectional meaning it will print from either of two windows computers to a single multifunction printer/scanner/copier, or send scans to either of the computers from the multifunction device.

Works exactly as a USB hub. Only reason for four stars is that sometimes when you switch inputs, you have to wiggle the button to get it in a certain position to get the PC to recognize it is switched over (issue started after about 6 months). Other than that, no latency, works exactly as I need it to

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Worked great at first, but less than 2 months in and it no longer works on one side. The functionality of one side is intermittent, so it works then doesn't and works then doesn't. This makes it practically unusable for what I'm using it for. On to search for another product that actually works for more than 2 months... Says it has a warranty, but good luck finding contact info or a way to make a claim.

I work from home and have limited desk space. This little device let me have one keyboard and mouse set for both my work and personal computers. I've been using it for months now and have had no issues with it.

Works perfectly as described.
