This is Nate from Tekton. This socket set ships in a cardboard shipping box. Amazon's reference to "shows the contents" refers to the fact that these ship in a Tekton branded shipping box and has an external barcode with the item name on it.

Q: In one picture it states a breaker bar is included. Is this true?

This is Nate with Tekton. Item SKT15302 does not include a breaker bar. It includes just the 8 inch ratchet. Item SKT15311 includes our 18 inch 3/8 inch drive breaker bar as shown in the product images.

Q: Is it worth waiting for the 12 or is 6 point good enough for DIY

This is Nate from Tekton. For the use you are describing, 6-point sockets should work fine. If you are working on vehicles, I recommend having both 6-point and 12-point sockets. We have more information on 6-point vs. 12-point at tekton.com/blog.
